First Malik Mehdi Hussain Memorial All Pakistan Basketball Gold Cup was held at Rangers Head Quarters Lahore under the supervision of Pakistan Basketball Federation. 15 teams from all over Pakistan participated in this 7 day mega event. Pakistan Army won the championship after a very close match with Pakistan AirForce. Final Score 62 - 60. Following teams participated in this event.

Pak Army, Pak AirForce, Pak WAPDA, HEC, Sargodha, Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Lahore qualified for Quarter Finals.
The highlights of this event was its exceptional organization by the organizers, Management by PBBF and the presence of many Veterans and Ex-National players. The Chief Guest on the opening ceremony was Maj. Gen. (R) Malik Hussain Mehdi. Chief Guests on the closing ceremony were Brig. (R) Rashid Ali Malik (President PBBF) & Mustafa Ali Mir (National Player who represented Pakistan in 1954).
